According to Russia Newswire, which quotes Alexey Miller, CEO of Gazprom PJSC, Gazprom PJSC has entered into a legal agreement to build the Power of Siberia 2 pipeline and to supply up to 50 billion Nm3/year to China via the route through Mongolia (see inserted chart taken from ICIS).
It was also contractually agreed to increase the capacity of the existing Power of Siberia from 38 billion Nm3/year to 44 billion Nm3/year. The capacity of the Far Eastern Gas Link to China, which is scheduled to go into operation in 2027, is also expected to exceed the originally planned capacity of 10 billion Nm3/year.
No further details on Power of Siberia 2 have been reported, but the approx. 3000 km long pipeline is not expected to be commissioned until the early 1930s.
With these projects, Russia is attempting to compensate for the drop in deliveries to Europe caused by the war - at least in part.
According to Russia Newswire, the price to be paid by China is lower than the prices charged by Gazprom JSPC in Europe.
