On the whole, varied, but occasionally also beautiful.
Monday
Extensive fog and high fog patches will return to the lowlands and hills. In the east and southeast, it will mostly remain cloudy throughout the day. The fog will also be persistent in Upper Austria. In addition, ice needles or some snowfall are possible in places in the fog zones. The upper limit of the fog will be around 800m above sea level. In the mountains, the sun will shine, albeit occasionally through high clouds. In addition, the southerly foehn wind will weaken here, freshening up to 30 to 50 km/h in the eastern lowlands.
Temperatures will reach minus 2 to plus 10 degrees depending on the fog and sunshine. At 2000m it will be minus 2 to plus 3 degrees.
Tuesday
There will still be a lot of fog over the lowlands. The fog will become even thicker and may reach up to an altitude of around 1000m. Even in the fog-free regions, especially in the Alps, it won't be clear, with the sun alternating with denser clouds. It may snow or rain a little in places, and freezing rain is also possible. Mostly, however, it will remain dry. Vorarlberg will be the sunniest province. Only a little wind.
Temperatures will be in the frosty range in the morning, with highs ranging from minus 2 to plus 7 degrees in the afternoon. At an altitude of 2000m it will be around minus 2 degrees.
The further trend
On Wednesday, the lowlands and hills will once again be covered in thick fog, which will only clear regionally. Sunshine will predominate in the mountains, but from Vorarlberg to Carinthia there will also be clouds and in the west it will be foehn-like. Highs will range between minus 2 and plus 11 degrees depending on the fog, sunshine and foehn.
On Thursday, initially partly foggy, partly sunny and foehn. More and more clouds and some rain from the west during the day, snowfall above 1000 to 1500m. Highs: minus 2 and around plus 12 degrees. Mildest in the foehn lines on the northern side of the Alps and significantly milder than the previous days in the southeast.
On Friday, a mixture of sun and clouds away from possible fog patches. Isolated rain showers and snow showers at higher altitudes are still possible during the night. Occasionally a brisk westerly wind. Highs: 0 to 10 degrees.
